Best known for his sculptural works that explores the nature and boundaries of human perception, the subject of Raetz’s work is motion, both that of the viewer and of the fleeting images in the art.
Many of his works are illusory, where the location of the viewer changes its entire content. His art is a visual interpretation of the process that is our very existence and sense of life. He wants us to become aware of what we really see, if we free ourselves from our habits and venture out into the adventure of truly seeing. He points out that our position, the physical location of our bodies, determines what we see and experience.
Intending his art to remain accessible, the artist claimed that “I am doing things everybody can understand. It is not complicated work. I can see that in the reaction of children.”Provenance
