Toby Ziegler, Your shadow rising: Mona, Hobart (Curator Olivier Varenne with Pippa Mott)

"I have had a particular interest for Toby Ziegler’s work since 2004, when he was creating technologically generated worlds with urban scenes and landscapes. Toby is constantly pursuing his quest with paintings and I especially enjoy his back and forth with technology and how he interweaves computers and crafts. 

His technique which consists in taking an image engraved in our collective consciousness and computing it with his technology results in a warped image which he then renders through pixelised paintings or sculptures. Toby Ziegler then often revisits his works either by submitting it once again to his computers or through restructuring / destroying parts of it, making the image but a remnant of what it originally was."
